Civics of Vermont

The focus of this unit is citizenship, the role of government, and the cause and effect relationship between Vermonters and the legislature. Students also explore the concept of democracy as well as their rights and responsibilities as citizens.

Geography and Economics of the Green Mountain State

The focus of this unit is on the cause and effect relationships between Vermont's geography and industries and the ways Vermonters live. They will consider how land and natural resources affect settlement patterns and industrial development in Vermont.

History of the 14th State

"Through the study of the past and its legacy, learners examine the institution's values and beliefs of people in the past, acquire skills in historical inquiry and interpretation, and gain an understanding of how important historical events and developments have shaped the modern world."

The focus of this unit is how Vermont has changed over time and how these changes affect the citizens of Vermont. Students learn how there can be varying perspectives.

Our Caring School

Students continue to work together to create a safe and caring environment. Children establish goals and develop rules as a community. First graders continue to develop their understanding of how they, staff, and volunteers fulfill important roles and responsibilities in the community.
